JAKARTA: 4 October 2010 -- ITM Indonesia closed its 25th year celebrations with a three-fold event. A solemn Mass to thank God for 25 fruitful years, a book to record a majority of those years and a musical drama to sing of the possibilities to come.
Although the visit of the Rector Major to Jakarta was the main event to mark the 25 years of the Salesians in Indonesia, There were other events awaiting.
October 1: a musical drama was presented by the youth of the St John Bosco parish in Jakarta, accompanied by the Parish Youth Orchestra. The 50 boys and girls sang and danced short anecdotes in the lives of Don Bosco, Dominic Savio and Michael Magone. It was presented in the Indonesian Language with the title: "Untuk Mu Segalanya" (Everything For You).
October 2: Saturday was the peak of the festivities with a solemn Mass celebrated by Fr Jose Carbonell, SDB and homily preached by the Superior of the Vice Province, Fr Joao Aparicio Guterres, SDB. All the five communities (Sunter, Tigaraksa, Sumba, Surabaya and Blitar) were represented and they participated in the launching of the autobiography of Fr Carbonell, depicting the 25 years of Salesian pioneering work in Indonesia.
